FCA speech calls for stronger link between finance and national security
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published a speech by its chief executive, Nikhil Rathi, delivered at the Corporation of the City of London’s annual City Dinner on 22 October 2025, urging that finance be placed at the centre of the UK’s national security strategy. Rathi said that modern conflicts affect balance sheets, markets and consumers as much as physical battlefields, and that financial services should link national mission and resources to deliver the combined benefits of security, growth and market integrity.
