The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has published a report on the capabilities and risks from frontier artificial intelligence (AI), ahead of the Prime Minister’s speech on the global responsibility to address the risks of AI and make the most of the opportunities AI can bring. The report deals with the capabilities and risks from frontier AI, safety and security risks of generative AI to 2025 and future risks of frontier AI. Drawing on various sources, including UK intelligence assessments, the report will serve as a discussion paper at the AI Safety Summit, taking place between 1 and 2 November 2023. The Summit will focus on the misuse of AI by non-state actors for cyberattacks and the loss of control of AI, among other topics.
