The Home Office has updated its guidance webpage 'Visiting the UK: information for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens' on 8 October 2020. It confirms that EEA and Swiss citizens may continue to use a national ID card to enter the UK until 'at least 31 December 2025', if they: have pre-settled or ​​settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, possess a frontier worker permit or if they are an S2 healthcare visitor, or a Swiss service provider. Individuals who do not meet the criteria will not be able to use a national ID card to enter the UK from 1 October 2021.
