The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has submitted a new report to the United Nations (UN), in which it warns that the government is not doing enough to protect disabled people from discrimination. The report, produced in collaboration with other equality bodies and national human rights organisations in the UK, has assessed the extent to which previous UN recommendations from its 2016 inquiry have been implemented by the government. The EHRC has concluded that ‘as the cost of living crisis deepens, many of the recommendations made in 2016 are even more relevant now, with over half of disabled people struggling to pay their energy bills in 2022.
