The Home Office has updated its guidance webpage 'Coronavirus (COVID-19): advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents' for individuals applying on the basis of family or private life. The guidance states that the concession permitting the Home Office to disregard a short break in immigration status and/or continuous residence will only apply where the individual was unable to travel back to the UK due to coronavirus travel restrictions, and their permission expired between 1 March 2020 and 19 July 2021 (previously 30 June 2021).
