Article summary

The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has launched a six-week call for evidence on skills shortages from business organisations and employers. As part of its review of the shortage occupation list, it is asking business organisations and employers to ‘share their valuable recruitment experiences’. The MAC will consider what medium-skill occupations, requiring RQF Level 3-5 qualifications (A-levels and equivalents), should be added to a UK wide list of occupations in shortage under the new post-Brexit immigration system. The consultation closes at 11:45pm on 24 June 2020. The MAC intend to deliver the final report to the Home Secretary in September 2020. The ability of businesses and employers to respond to the call for evidence due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will also be reflected in the final report.
