Business Secretary Alok Sharma MP has announced that the government will introduce legislation to assist companies as they navigate their legal requirement to hold annual general meetings (AGMs) within the context of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The coronavirus outbreak has restricted the movement of persons and group gatherings, and thus, the government has granted companies temporary flexibility with regard to AGMs. Companies will be allowed to hold the annual meeting online or to have it postponed.
