LCIA appoints Prof Maxi Scherer as next LCIA Court President
The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) has announced the appointment of Professor Maxi Scherer as the next President of the LCIA Court, effective 9 May 2025. Prof Scherer, currently serving as Vice President, will succeed Paula Hodges KC. The appointment comes as the LCIA continues to strengthen its global presence, with recent statistics showing 96% of its 2023 cases being international and 79% not involving any UK-based parties. The institution's latest Costs and Duration Analysis demonstrates its cost-effectiveness, particularly in high-value disputes. Under Hodges' tenure, the LCIA administered cases involving parties from 161 jurisdictions, across 70 seats of arbitration and governed by 99 substantive laws.
