MLex: The burden of proof over the use of forced labour in harvesting, extracting or manufacturing a product should lie with the companies concerned, not national authorities, EU lawmakers and experts said at a European Parliament hearing. A proposed EU ban on goods made using forced labour should also include rules on helping victims of forced labour and should allow for suspect goods to be held at the EU’s border until a probe is concluded, some participants said.
