What to expect from the new European Parliament and Commission in 2025 in the tech and digital sector

EIOPA publishes 2024 consumer trends report

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has published its 2024 consumer trends report, highlighting the main trends in consumers’ experience with insurance and pension products. The report explores four key areas: the role of digitalisation in shaping the insurance and pension sectors, the transformatory power of AI in insurance, consumers’ appetite for supplementary pensions in light of increasing pension gaps, and the real/perceived value for money of insurance and pensions products. The findings of the report are underpinned by various data sources, including EIOPA’s Eurobarometer survey.

ECHA publishes new guidance on EU Drinking Water Directive

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) have published new guidance documents that describe good practice and provide technical and scientific advice for duty holders to comply with their obligations under the Drinking Water Directive. The guidance supports the implementation of the European positive lists under the DWD.

EMA prepares to implement new EU health technology assessment rules

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has announced its readiness to support the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2021/2282 EU (the new regulation on health technology assessment (HTAR)) when it becomes effective on 12 January 2025. EMA will assist in joint clinical assessments, participate in joint scientific consultations, and facilitate information exchange. The regulation initially covers new cancer treatments and advanced therapy medicinal products, with plans to expand its scope in subsequent years. EMA has begun identifying relevant marketing authorisation applications and will collaborate closely with the HTA Coordination Group to ensure smooth implementation of the new framework.
