22 Common Agricultural Policy Support and Cross-Compliance

Following the Common Agricultural Policy reform in 2013-14 support is still provided under two pillars: Pillar one provides direct payments to farmers and Pillar two promotes rural development.

Under the reformed Pillar one the new direct payment comprises three parts: the Basic Payment Scheme payment, a payment for greening measures and a payment for young farmers. These payments are administered in England by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) and in Wales by Rural Payments Wales (RPW).
