37 Claiming a payment under the Basic Payment Scheme

To claim a payment each year under the Basic Payment Scheme a farmer must1:

  1. 37.1

        register with the rural payment system on the Defra website (in England) and on the Rural Payments Wales online website (in Wales);

  2. 37.2

        apply for the payment each year;

  3. 37.3

        hold (temporarily or permanently) and activate sufficient entitlements to match the area claimed;

  4. 37.4

        have sufficient eligible hectares at his disposal on 15 May to match his entitlements;

  5. 37.5

        fulfil the definition of ‘active farmer’;

  6. 37.6
