The Information Commissioner’s Office has fined the Money Hive Ltd £50,000 as a result of the company sending 752,425 unsolicited direct marketing messages to customers without their valid consent between 12 March 2020 and 8 September 2020, in contravention of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, SI 2003/2426, reg 22. The Money Hive Ltd was also served with an enforcement notice, ordering the company to cease the transmission of unsolicited communications for the purposes of direct marketing without subscribers’ specific consent.
