MLex has reported that an unnamed person in Spain has been fined €1,500 by the Spanish Data Protection Authority (DPA) for the illegal processing of personal data via a video-surveillance system. The person had installed two video cameras on his or her house that were pointed toward public areas and had also failed to provide a sign stating that video-surveillance data would be processed, the DPA said. The DPA concluded that the individual had violated the principles of data minimisation and information obligation under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR).
