Article summary

Eurojust has reported that 142 suspects have been arrested in relation to the take down of a website that allowed fraudsters to impersonate or ‘spoof’ trusted corporations to obtain sensitive information from victims. According to Eurojust, the website caused an estimated worldwide loss of over £100m by allowing those who sign up and pay for the service to anonymously make spoofed calls, send recorded messages and intercept one-time passwords. Judicial and law enforcement authorities from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Netherlands, Ukraine, the UK and the USA took part in or supported the investigation.
