Environmental liability insurance (ELI) covers losses resulting from pollution and contamination. ELI policies may cover both gradual events and sudden incidents. This type of insurance is relevant for any business whose activities might cause environmental damage. For example, companies involved in drilling, oil transport or fracking may require ELI. £1.9bn Jaguar cyberattack UK's 'most economically damaging'

PRA finalises Matching Adjustment Investment Accelerator framework for insurers

The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) has finalised its Matching Adjustment Investment Accelerator (MAIA) framework. The PRA introduced the MAIA framework to streamline insurers’ investment processes and support productive finance in the UK. The framework allows firms to include a limited quantity of self-assessed eligible assets—termed MAIA assets—within their Matching Adjustment (MA) portfolios, claiming MA benefits immediately while having 24 months to regularise these assets through a formal MA application.

Ship owner disputes Amlin's use of 'draconian' pay first clause
