LCIA introduces new EDI guidelines to enhance inclusivity in international arbitration

The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) has unveiled new Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Guidelines, marking a significant advancement in promoting inclusivity within the global arbitration community. These non-binding recommendations, developed through a collaborative process led by the LCIA's EDI officer, offer guidance on integrating EDI principles throughout various stages of arbitration proceedings. The guidelines, which form part of the LCIA's broader EDI Initiative launched in 2024, are designed to be flexible and adaptable to diverse user needs. By providing foundational concepts and emphasising positive outcomes associated with EDI principles, the LCIA aims to foster a fairer, more representative arbitration landscape and encourage the widespread adoption of inclusive practices across the field.

ICC, ITA and IEL announce 13th joint conference on International Energy Arbitration

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA), and Institute for Energy Law (IEL) have announced their 13th annual Joint Conference on International Energy Arbitration, scheduled for 16-17 January 2025 in Houston. The conference will examine key developments in international energy arbitration practice over the preceding year, featuring panels on negotiating arbitration clauses, disputes in emerging energy technologies, enforcement of awards, stabilisation clauses, ESG impacts and recent conflicts of interest issues. Notable speakers include representatives from major energy companies, international law firms, and arbitration institutions. The event also incorporates a young lawyers roundtable and networking opportunities, aiming to provide comprehensive insights for practitioners in the field of energy arbitration.
