The Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) has published a Carbon Credit Procurement Guide on 10 November 2025 to assist commercial property owners in procuring high-integrity carbon credits for offsetting residual emissions. Developed by BBP's Net Zero Carbon Working Group in collaboration with Managing Agents Partnership members, the guide provides structured procurement processes including developing carbon credit specifications, conducting due diligence on brokers and suppliers, evaluating projects with consistent criteria, and embedding risk management and integrity checks. The guidance aims to align with evolving best practice and investor expectations as organisations progress towards net zero carbon goals. The guide is available on BBP and MAP websites, with stakeholders invited to provide feedback to ensure practical effectiveness and industry alignment.

GLOSSARY
The Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) is responsible for writing and maintaining the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising, but the Office of Communications (Ofcom) retains overall sign-off on major changes to the Code. The BCAP Code sets out the rules that govern broadcast advertisements on any television channel or radio station licensed by Ofcom. The ASA is responsible for administering the Code, but is able to refer broadcasters to Ofcom for further action, if needed.
GLOSSARY
The BCAP code is administered by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), applying to advertising in the broadcast media and should not be confused with Ofcom’s Broadcasting Code, which regulates content. The overarching principle of the BCAP Code is to require broadcast advertising on television and radio to be socially responsible.

The changes clarify that existing restrictions on advertisements for unregulated investments to specialised financial channels and programming will apply to unregulated products that meet the likely consumer understanding of an ‘investment’. These changes take effect immediately, with BCAP intending to review the amended rules after 12 months.

Responses are sought by 7 June 2024.
