Article summary

Wiltshire Council has reported the sentencing of Gent Jakupi, after he pleaded guilty to 39 food hygiene offences. Following an investigation by Environmental Health Officers from Wiltshire Council’s Food and Safety team, it was found that Jakapi had repeatedly been cutting meat in filthy conditions at his two hand car washing businesses. Jakapi initially denied that he had been cutting meat and claimed the bandsaw present was used to cut wood, despite meat debris being clearly visible on the machine, however, he finally admitted the charges after CCTV footage seized during a raid evidenced that the unhygienic meat cutting had been carried out for several weeks. Jakapi was given a ten-month custodial sentence at Swindon magistrates court with the Judge calling the case, an 'intentional and flagrant breach of the law'.
