MLex has reported that Romanian companies received 36 fines in 2021, worth a total of just over 370,000 lei (around €75,910), for breaches of the EU's privacy rules. The Romanian Data Protection Authority (DPA) said in its annual report that it also issued 93 warnings and 56 other corrective measures. The DPA also received a total 5,006 complaints, after which it started 691 investigations.
