The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has published a review of The Light Rail Safety Standards Board’s (LRSSB) improvements to safety in the light rail and tramway sector. The review assesses whether LRSSB is on target for the implementation of the safety recommendations made by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch after the fatal Sandilands derailment in 2016. The review found that the LRSSB is improving the sector’s understanding of risk, but also has also laid out six recommendations for a long-term strategy for governance and funding arrangements.
