The Next-Generation Internet of Things (NGIoT) coordination and support action (CSA) of the European Commission has published a roadmap for the projections and priorities in developing the Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing across Europe and the rest of the world. For example, within the next five years, only 25% of processing and analysis is projected to take place in data centres and centralised computing facilities, down from 80% today. NGIoT published a white paper in January 2022 which presents its final recommendations.
