MPs will debate the EU's mandate for negotiating a new partnership with the UK on Thursday 4 June 2020. MPs will review the Council Decision (EU, Euratom) 2020/266 of 25 February 2020 authorising the opening of negotiations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for a new partnership agreement. The European Scrutiny Committee (ESC) has proposed that the House of Commons accept a statement of opinion urging the government to conduct its negotiations with the EU with transparency and to make regular progress reports.
