Interpol have announced the publication of a new guide to ‘to support countries develop a clearer vision of the global problem’ of cybercrime, created in collaboration with the Council of Europe. The Guide for Criminal Justice Statistics on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence has been published with the view of improving criminal justice authorities’ understanding of the ‘scale, types and impact’ of cybercrime, with the key goal being to assist authorities with good practices and recommendations to acquire statistics on cybercrime and electronic evidence. Interpol’s Director of Cybercrime, Craig Jones, noted how the national approach to cybercrime and electronic evidence ‘serves as the cornerstone for developing tailored operational responses to reduce the global impact’.
