The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has called for farmers in Britain to think 'differently about safety'. The HSE has highlighted that 27 people were killed in agriculture-related activities in the last 12 months and that being killed by cattle is the major cause of death in 2022—2023. It has also published a report titled 'Fatal injuries in agriculture, forestry and fishing in Great Britain 2022/23', coinciding with Farm Safety Week, starting on 17 July 2023. Head of Agriculture at the HSE, Sue Thompson, has encouraged 'everyone to think differently about safety, do things the right way and have the courage to ‘call out’ poor practices whenever they are seen'. Thompson has also commented that agriculture will continue to be a priority for the HSE in its aim to protect people and workplaces.
