Article summary

HM Treasury (HMT) has published the outcome of its consultation on amendments to the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (MLRs), which ran from July to October 2021. The amendments to the MLRs will be made through draft secondary legislation: The Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations 2022. Most of the measures will come into force on 1 September 2022, subject to Parliamentary approval. There are four measures that will come into force at different times, as detailed in the HMT response. Sector-specific guidance will be updated to reflect the amended legislation.
