The Home Office has published a letter from the Minister of State for Countering Illegal Migration, Michael Tomlinson, to the Chair of the Select Committee on the Constitution (SCC), Baroness Drake, in response to the SCC’s third Report of Session 2023–2024 on the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill. The government has responded to the SCC’s findings made in the report, specifically on issues concerning parliamentary sovereignty, the separation of powers and the Rule of Law, access to the courts, human rights, the Good Friday Agreement, statements under section 19 of the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA 1998), and lastly, international law.
