The European Parliament has authorised the beginning of inter-institutional negotiations on reforming the Schengen Borders Code with the Council of the EU. Rapporteur Sylvie Guillaume will head the Parliament negotiating team. The negotiations will delineate rules, reinforce free movement within the EU, and put in place targeted solutions to genuine threats. The Parliament also aims to establish a coherent EU response when it comes to large-scale public cross-border health emergencies.
