The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has adopted a decision on communication by electronic means through an application programming interface (API) in procedures relating to EU trade marks and registered community designs. Users of the API can file applications for the registration of EU trade marks and registered community designs in their own name or on behalf of parties that the user represents and may only be used under the user’s direct control, responsibility and supervision. This decision came into force on 1 April 2022.
