The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has launched a consultation on the implementation of the Ivory Act. The Act, when it commences, will ban the dealing of items made of or containing elephant ivory regardless of how old the items are. Defra’s consultation seeks the views of interested parties on its proposals for the ban’s commencements, including ‘commencement arrangements for the ban, implementation of the exemptions, and the information required and fees for registrations of exempt items’. The consultation closes on 4 May 2021.
