MLex has reported that an unnamed data controller has received a €1,000 fine from the Spanish Data Protection Authority for the illegal processing of data via a video-surveillance system. The controller installed a camera at the entrance of a bar, which contrary to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR) principle of data minimisation processed images of people on the street and in public areas.
