The City of London Police (CoLP) has reported that, Matthew Hyett, has been sentenced for selling counterfeit football merchandise from a market stall in Morley, West Yorkshire, as well as online. Hyett plead guilty to the acquisition of criminal property and the distribution of goods bearing a false trade mark at Leeds magistrates' court on 2 August 2023. The CoLP has stated that Hyett was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to complete 150 hours of community service, at Leeds Crown Court on 30 August 2023. Hyett was originally arrested on 10 October 2022 by the Police Intellectual Property Crimes Unit after it had seized 1,674 counterfeit items, worth an estimated £70,000.
