Article summary

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has confirmed in response to its ‘good work plan’ consultation that it is still committed to, and will go ahead with, the introduction of a new single labour market enforcement body. The body will need to be established through primary legislation, but will eventually take the lead on tackling modern slavery and enforcing the minimum wage, among other tasks, and ensure that employee and employers know where to go for workers’ rights help. In the meantime, the government response outlines how BEIS will continue to work with stakeholders and enforcement bodies to trial new approaches in support of the transition.
