On an application by six major Hollywood film studios, the High Court has ordered BT to block subscribers’ access to illegal file-sharing website Newzbin2, holding that BT had actual knowledge that its service was being used by others to infringe copyright under CDPA88, s 97A. The decision is a significant step towards compelling involvement from (certainly major) ISPs in efforts to stop online infringement.
