The Scottish Government has published guidance on the prohibition of the provision of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles to children, which has occurred through the Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022, 2022 asp 9. The guidance provides information of the enforcement of the act, the existing laws on the supply of fireworks to children, the types of products that are included in the proxy purchase and supply offence, legitimate uses of pyrotechnic articles by people under 18 years of age, and more information on the categorisation of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles. The offence has come into force from 10 October 2022, and will see offenders receive a fine not exceeding £5,000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both.
