The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has published its coronavirus (COVID-19) position. The ONR states that it will focus on 'preparedness for the weeks and months ahead' and on maintaining protected and secure operations despite any further rise in coronavirus transmission. It will also ensure that all authorised sites are 'required to determine minimum staffing levels to ensure safe and secure operations and contingency arrangements in the event that these levels are not met'. In addition, ONR staff will remain working from home. The ONR has considered its priorities, deferred non-critical exercises, and is doing as much of its work as possible via video conference, phone and email. It has also increased its on-site administrative work in accordance with the public health guidance and will continue to examine, 'assess and permission remotely where necessary to protect staff, workers on site', and members of the public around sites.
