The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has published its position on work and nuclear safety in relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is continuing to obtain assurance that nuclear site licensees and dutyholders are suitably resourced to carry out work safely and securely, and supports national efforts to ensure social distancing is enforced where necessary. The ONR requires all licensed sites to determine minimum staffing levels to ensure safe operation, a condition which ensures that the industry can adequately control activities during all foreseeable circumstances; this includes pandemics.
