Article summary
The National Crime Agency (NCA) and Border Force has announced a campaign appeal to urge lorry drivers to lock their vehicles and report suspicious activity that could be linked to people smuggling. This follows after 39 Vietnamese migrants were found dead in the back of a lorry in Essex in 2019. The campaign aims to target drivers in England, Scotland and Wales through service station and port messaging and new posters and leaflets on how they can help stop dangerous and illegal routes to the UK. The posters and leaflets will include information on what drivers should look out for such as security breaches, unexpected route diversions and unusual behaviour.
