Article summary

The European Commission has launched Level(s), the European Framework for Sustainable Buildings, in order to address the building sector’s greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water consumption, material usage and waste generation. Level(s) is a framework designed to improve the efficiency and sustainability of buildings and speed up the transition toward a circular economy by looking at the whole lifecycle of a building. The framework was set up as a part of the European Green Deal’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and contributes to the new European Bauhaus initiative, the Circular Economy Action Plan and the Renovation Wave Strategy.
