The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced that the new Justice Secretary, Rt Hon Brandon Lewis MP, has reached an agreement with the Criminal Bar Association (CBA) to get criminal barristers back to work. The MoJ has said that criminal barristers have agreed to vote on ending strikes, the CBA will re-ballot members, a planned 15% fee increase for criminal barristers will now apply to the majority of cases currently in the Crown Court and the CBA and Bar Council have committed to working together with the government to reduce the court backlog and increase diversity among barristers.
