MLex has reported that the insurance company Intesa Sanpaolo Vita has been fined €20,000 by the Italian Data Protection Authority, for a EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR) violation by the unauthorised disclosure of personal data. A data subject had complained that the company illegally transferred his or her life insurance policy to third parties, the regulator said. The Authority additionally stated that Intesa Sanpaolo Vita breached the EU GDPR's principles concerning data confidentiality, lawfulness, fairness, and transparency.
