The Home Office has opened a consultation on security and a new Level of Penalty: Code of Practice. The Home Office has provided that it is seeking views on the new civil penalty for failure to secure a good vehicle to narrow the statutory defences available to those who carried a clandestine entrant. The Home Office is also seeking views on proposals to increase the maximum penalty and maximum aggregate penalty for carrying a clandestine entrant from £2,000 to £4,000. The consultation closes on 12 September 2022.
