The Home Office has updated its guidance webpage 'Coronavirus (COVID-19): advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents' on 29 July 2020. It confirms that individuals whose leave expired between 24 January 2020 and 31 July 2020 will no longer be able to automatically extend their leave. Instead, these individuals will have a 30-day grace period, until 31 August 2020, to either leave the UK or make an application for leave to remain. Individuals who intend to leave the UK but are unable to do so by 31 August 2020 can request additional time to stay ('exceptional indemnity') by contacting the Coronavirus Immigration Team.
