The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced the coming into force of the Food Information (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2019 (SI 2019/1218), more commonly known as Natasha’s Law, which was introduced following the death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who died of an allergic reaction after eating a baguette sandwich that was not labelled. With the amendment coming into force on 1 October 2021, products including pre-wrapped sandwiches, fast food which is already in packaging before a customer places their order, and supermarket items such as cheese and meat from a deli counter which is already wrapped, will all be required to carry labels indicating potential allergens.
