European Commissions opens call for proposals to strengthen digital technologies

The European Commission has opened the first set of calls for proposals to strengthen digital technologies and competences across the EU. This round of investment aims to build confidence in the digital transformation, with €32m available for projects related to a Network of Safer Internet Centres to support minors tackle online risks and the anonymous reporting of child sexual abuse material online. An additional €31m will be invested to support projects in the area of data, with investment in the Genome for Europe project to establish a European reference genome database and to encourage break-through advances in research, innovation, disease prevention and healthcare delivery. A further €25m will be provided for projects on cloud to edge infrastructure, €18m for projects on artificial intelligence and €16m to promote advanced digital skills. The deadline to apply is 26 September 2023.
