The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has announced that it signed a working arrangement with the European Court of Auditors (ECA) on 3 September 2021. According to the EPPO, this arrangement has been put in place to ‘provide a structured framework for establishing and maintaining a co-operative relationship between both parties, for the purpose of protecting the EU budget’. Under the arrangement, the EPPO and the ECA are to co-operate on timely collaboration on information transmission, access and exchange, precautionary measures on the part of the ECA, the EPPO’s access to ECA premises for conducting investigations, and the EPPO’s provision of information to the ECA for auditing purposes, among other things. In addition, both organisations are to co-operate on training in areas of common interest and may exchange staff.
