The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced that it has launched a formal investigation into Pontins holiday parks following continued concerns about discrimination against Gypsies and Travellers. According to the EHRC, alleged practices by Pontins included publishing an ‘undesirable’ guest list containing common Irish surnames and cancelling or refusing bookings from people suspected of being Gypsies or Travellers. Under the Equality Act 2010 (EqA 2010), declining to provide services to guests because they are of a certain race or ethnic group is unlawful.
