The Department for International Trade (DIT) and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) have jointly announced a new plan to support businesses in the food, drink and agriculture sectors which have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The government states that the measures are ‘designed to turbo charge UK food and drink’ during the recovery from the economic and social effects of coronavirus. The measures seek to help producers, manufacturers and agri-tech companies across the food supply chain to resume pre-coronavirus level of exports. The ‘bounce-back’ plan will include physical and virtual events to help a variety of businesses and exporters, such as an overseas virtual buyer trial, and a package of ‘Ready to Trade’ Exporting Masterclass webinars.
