The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has issued an update regarding its regulatory approach going forward amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The CQC explains that as health and social care services are now entering a period of increased pressure, ‘it is only right that CQC continues to be flexible in [its] approach’. At present, the CQC will continue to only undertake inspection activity in response to ‘a serious risk of harm or where it supports the system’s response to the pandemic’.
