The European Commission has adopted a recommendation on the use of rapid antigen tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus (COVID-19), following its 28 October 2020 recommendation enhancing testing strategies across Member States. The recommendation urges Member States to conduct rapid antigen tests in addition to reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction tests where appropriate, in order to detect the virus and contain its spread and to limit isolation and quarantine measures.
